USS Lexington is a valuable national treasure having played a significant role in the nation’s defense for nearly 50 years. Her World War II record is second to none and as a place where Americans died in defense of freedom, she is a memorial worth preserving. She continues to serve today as a museum and educational facility in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Ready to come aboard? The USS Lexington is open year-round for touring and special events.
We’ve set up five different routes, covering 100,000 square feet and eleven decks. Explore at your own pace and discover the many stories behind the LEX. Go in any order, but make sure you see it all. Each tour is unique and features interactive displays to take your adventure to a whole new level. But first, start your journey with the Flight Deck Tour.
On this tour, you’ll find high-speed catapult launches, arrested landings, air operations, and aircraft refueling all took place on this airport. The original flight deck was a long rectangle but jet aircraft demanded a separate landing and take-off area, so in the 50’s she underwent major modifications, which allowed her to serve another 36 years. Points of interest on deck are take-off and landing control stations and arresting gear, anti-aircraft gun mounts, and vintage aircraft.
Admission to the Lexington Museum of the Bay starts at $11.95 and includes a free movie in the Joe Jessel 3D Mega Theater. Don’t skip out on touring this national landmark with family and friends!
