Learn More About Growing and Maintaining Fruit Trees in Our Local Climate During This Workshop

GROW Local South Texas is a member-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit formed in March of 2013 with a mission to grow a healthy local community by improving access to, education about and advocacy for affordable nutrient-dense foods. Their vision is to create a thriving local food system in the Coastal Bend of Texas by supporting the development of a sustainable rural to urban agricultural connection in the Southern Region of Texas.

Each month, GROW Local South Texas hosts a free workshop. In November, it will be lead by Dave Ilfrey from NativeDave.com on Saturday, November 16th. Native Dave is a full-service, sustainable landscape firm located in rural Aransas County, Texas, near Corpus Christi. Their story began in Dallas-Ft. Worth-Denton in 2001 and has continued in Texas' Coastal Bend since 2011. Native Dave’s custom designs have received numerous awards throughout Texas, and their staff is full of accomplished speakers, writers, photographers, and artists, who plan to offer demonstrations and events at Sage Hollow beginning in 2020.

Attendees will learn about interesting trees that grow well in our climate and how to care for them throughout the year. There will also be a tour of the Community Food Forest with nearly 50 young fruit trees, as well as plants and trees for sale.

Sure, at Shadow Bend Apartments in Corpus Christi, Texas, you’ll find all the on-site amenities and services you desire, but we know your lifestyle demands more than perks that are close-to-home.
